Raja Sooriamurthi is an Associate Teaching Professor with Carnegie Mellon’s Information Systems Program. He has taught a range of undergraduate and graduate level classes in the areas of Software Design, Web applications, and Intelligent Decision Support Systems.  He has also taught introductory programming classes for the past twenty years in a range of languages.  Paralleling his teaching efforts Raja has been active in various high school outreach efforts. He co-organized some of the early ACM sponsored Java Engagement for Teacher Training (JETT) workshops for high school teachers. As part of an Intensive Summer Preview Program for high school students in Doha, Qatar, organized by Carnegie Mellon University, he conducted an Information Systems Project on Integrating Information with Mashups. More recently, along with Zbigniew Michalewicz and Nick Falkner of the University of Adelaide, Raja has been developing and teaching a new course with the goal of enhancing critical thinking and problem solving skills termed Puzzle-Based Learning.  Over the years Raja's pedagogical efforts have been recognized with several awards for distinguished teaching.
